Batemans Bay Master Plan

This project is a true blend of urban design, planning and architecture.  Batemans Bay is a regional centre that is located five hours south of the Sydney CBD in NSW, Australia.

Glyde_Bautovich were commissioned to undertake a review of a 5,410sqm site in Batemans Bay centre.  A catalyst for the review of Batemans Bay is the State government investment in the area, including a new $274 million bridge to enter the centre, investment in roads and the redevelopment of Moruya airport.

The 2008 planning controls negate the significant potential for the site and for Batemans Bay in response to the State and local investment and regional strategies for the south coast area.

A  Waterfront Masterplan and Activation Strategy was released by Eurobodalla Council in December 2020 which recognises the future potential.  As the site is the largest in the centre, it will set the benchmark and a catalyst for development.

Glyde_Bautovich were engaged to design a mixed-use proposal for the site.  To prove to Council the schemes height and floor space was appropriate, an urban design analysis of the entire block that the site is located within formed the presentation to Council.  The proposal was well received by Council.  The site is one of Council’s review for an imminent planning proposal for the centre.
